This is a long-requested feature that allows session and app state to be saved when the user logs out, and restored when they log back in. This talk takes a deep dive through the what, why, and how of this feature. Adrian is a GNOME developer on Red Hat's desktop team, focusing on GNOME's foundational plumbing. He's a member of the Release Team, and maintains the GNOME Display and Session Managers. He's also involved in GNOME OS, as well as its critical dependencies like systemd, Flatpak, and xdg-desktop-portals. On the side, he's helping organize projects under the Sovereign Tech Fund. GNOME is a free and open-source software environment project supported by a non-profit foundation. Together, the community of contributors and the Foundation create a computing platform and software ecosystem, composed entirely of free software, that is designed to be elegant, efficient, and easy to use.
